How Good Is Optimum PhytoEnergise 3in1 Moisture Balm, Primer & Mask?

Optimum has been around for about 5 years now in Superdrug, It started with the famous apple moisturisers and the family has grown from there. Now we have an anti-fatigue range that consists of a 3 in 1 Moisture Balm, primer and Mask, Refreshing Eye Gel and Glycolic Cleansing Pads. The product that I am reviewing as part of the Superdrug Blog Squad is the Optimum PhytoEnergise 3in1 Moisture Balm, Primer & Mask 30ml.

This is new to Superdrug and with the active ingredient of Taurine, that is extracted from seaweed it will help to revive your skin and disguise the look of fatigue. I have been wearing the look of fatigue since 1992, 26 years old child rearing has taken its toll on me! My skin is quite dry because I suffer from psoriasis and it can always benefit from some kind of hydration. I can get that from this product. It has illuminating pearls to boost your skin's natural radiance and give you a glow. It also has hyaluronic acid that helps to boost the skin's elasticity and firmness.

The way to use this product as a moisturiser or primer is to apply a small amount on to your fingertips and gently massage on to your face, neck and decolletage. This should give you a good base for you to apply your make up, although I would still use a separate primer too. To use it as a face mask, you need to layer it on to your face so that it builds to a thicker, better coverage and leave it for us to 10 minutes before you wipe it away. I didn't wash it off because I think you would lose some of the benefits of the moisturiser. Afterwards, it did leave my skin soft and revived but I used a lot of the moisturiser using it as a face mask. For the price point of the product, I felt that it made it an expensive face mask. I would use it as a daily moisturiser though.

I didn't really notice much of a difference with the look of fatigue, I was hoping it would help a bit with the dark under eyes, but I suppose if you use it in conjunction with the refreshing eye gel then you might notice more of a difference. The 3 in 1 moisturiser balm had no nice smell to it, it smelled like a cream that I would put on my child.s skin. Although perfume is an irritant to some women, I like to see it in things like this because the smell goes into your face a bit and you can smell the refreshing aroma.

The moisturiser isn't very thick, so it makes it easy to apply and you're not left with any greasy feeling afterwards, but you need a fair bit to use as a moisturiser. I used a pea-sized piece but it wasn't enough and used twice that amount. The tube is quite small, only 30mls but it means it is beneficial if you travel a lot and want to take a moisturiser with you. It is perfect for travelling because of the anti-fatigue properties too. I would recommend this to people to use alongside the refreshing eye gel, to get the full benefits of the products, and as it is BOGOF at Superdrug at the moment, you can make that work to your benefit. The Optimum PhytoEnergise 3in1 Moisture Balm, Primer & Mask is £14.99 for this promotion period and is on the BOGOF offer.
