A Day With Kirstie Allsopp And The Handmade Fair

I was so lucky to be invited to The Handmade fair as a member of the press and get the inside story of what was happening at the Fair. The fair was the Idea of Kirstie Allsopp and quite often when you know a celebrity has put her name to an event or product, you wonder quite how much input they have with the running of it. Well ! can tell you all that poor Kirstie did not stop from the moment she arrived on site. She was always dashing from one part of the fair to another. The event was sponsored by Hobbycraft

We All met up in a tent that was sponsored by Radley, my daughter was so jealous as she loves everything Radley
There were plenty of places to shop and stock up on the bits you needed, I took time to browse around and even learned a bit about die cut machines from Cricut. There was handmade jewellery and you could just simply buy your bundles of fabric you need.

And then we were booked onto A show in the theatre and some masterclasses, I chose to make a marzipan creature, which turned out to be a teddy bear and some lady bugs. Later on i went back to learn how to ice some cupcakes and make roses out of icing

There was a wide variety of things to do at the Fair, because after all handmade items doesn't just need to mean knitting or sewing. You could go along as an expert to learn new ideas or you could go along as a starter and learn something from the beginning (i had never made a marzipan creature before!)
If you get the opportunity to attend the fair next year then please do it as it was great - you definitely get your moneys worth in your ticket.

Kirstie Allsopp also has a range of gifts on sale at Hobbycraft at the moment, this ranges from candle making kits to soap making kits I have seen the things for myself and they are of such good quality and would make great presents with xmas coming up. Pop over and take a look at the range on the Hobbycraft website or pop in store today
