Our Last Day At Bluestone

We had our last morning today at Bluestone Country Park Resort and it has been an action filled week. The week has been perfectly situated for our needs and we managed to even take a trip to Dublin for the day. Fishguard is a ½ hour drive away and then you have the ferry crossing. It is perfectly situated for Oakwood Theme park, just a couple of minutes drive and also Folly Farm. If you don't wish to leave the resort you will find plenty to do on site for all ages.
We spent a lot of time in the adventure centre with Miss Tilly and she loved it, She is at the awkward age of four where she was too young to do the extreme sports although she was desperate to, but she soon settled with the circus room and the bouncy castle and climbing frame downstairs. If you have a small child, you can also go on the play equipment with your child which actually made me feel better as Tilly has a tendency to get a bit adventurous and then gets stuck in places!

We had to check out of the lodge by 10, which then gives the staff time to clean the lodges before the people start arriving for the weekend. We tidied our lodge and made sure everything was clean as I like to leave it as we found it.

All though you check out at 10, you can use the park facilities until you wish to leave, so we went back to the adventure park. Everytime we see the building Tilly squeals with excitement, So I know she has had a good holiday. We left at 11.30 as we had a long drive home.

We didn't use the Blue Lagoon swimming pool as Tilly has asthma and she has been suffering with it a lot over the past week (just recovering from flu) so I thought it would be best not to chance swimming with her. We were disappointed as I really wanted to use it.

We loved the fresh air and all the open space, Tilly had taken her scooter so she was able to really have some fun in the resort and she was perfectly safe as she never had to worry about cars on the resort. There was a beautiful lake down by the village and it would be lovely to have a picnic next to in the warmer weather. The weather was a bit cold and wet this week but it never stopped us doing the activities as its all under cover in the adventure centre or in the Granary.

I would return to Bluestone as the lodge was one of the most beautiful holiday accomodations I have ever stayed in and the surrounding areas were tranquil and quiet. I felt quite safe letting Tilly play on the little patio area outside our bedroom whilst I took a shower in the ensuite, and she was quite happy to ride her scooter around and seemed to have more freedom than in the town we live in. This holiday was kind of like going back to the good old holidays that I took the older kids on when they were little. I loved the fact that you didn't have to walk through arcades and pay as you play games to get to any play area, instead there was a few computer games and grab machines but they were in a room out of the way. Tilly is adventurous and If i was to return, I think I would bring her in the spring or summer season, when more things are open locally and her asthma doesnt affect her as much - so we can go swimming.

I would rate this holiday as 5* and recommend it everyone. You can book your own Bluestone break by heading over to the website and checking out their special offer, the accommodate groups up to 14 people in their lodges. You will be made most welcome by the staff from booking until the end of your holiday. So for a number one holiday destination look no further than Bluestone.
