Tony Maleedy Natural Scalp Therapy

My hair has always been important to me, its part of who I am and its part of my personality. My hair make me, ME. But my scalp and hair are both in quite a poor condition because I suffer from psoriasis as well as over processed hair. I am also losing my hair at an alarming rate, I think it's down to my hormones and the approaching menopause. Sometimes I am at a loss as to what to use on my hair to work with both conditions.

I was sent some Tony Maleedy scalp therapy shampoo and conditioner to try out on my hair and scalp. I had never heard of this brand before but I am always game for trying a new product. The shampoo and conditioner both contain juniper oil, which goes as far back as the ancient Egyptians who used it for medicinal purposes. Tony Maleedy shampoo and conditioner both use a high concentrate of juniper oil. The oil slows down the epidermal turnover on the scalp because if you have psoriasis, your scalp will produce extra skin because it reproduces too fast for your skin to cope with.

The Shampoo

This is formulated to eliminate the problems that you might have on your scalp. The juniper oil is anti-microbial and as it promotes a healthy scalp, then it will help to encourage proper hair growth too. It is made up of six natural therapeutic plant oils, Juniper, corn mint, thyme, tea tree, rosemary and eucalyptus oils. The smell is of a 'burnt wood' and it looks and smells lovely. When you use the shampoo, massage your hair too because this will also stimulate the scalp and help the hair growth.

The Conditioner

This is made from the oils of avocado, almond, olive and coconut, properties that you normally find in a conditioner because of all of their smoothing properties. It also contains Juniper extract and they promise a glossy shine and increased elasticity and strength.

So what did I think?

I love the smell of the shampoo and conditioner, and the consistency is good, I didn't need to use too much and it was very soothing to use on my scalp. My hair felt clean after I had washed it and the shampoo and conditioner both rinsed out from my hair easily. The packaging looks classy and it looks the colour of olive oil, which would instantly draw me to it. I washed my hair in this shampoo a couple of times a week over 6 weeks and I do feel that my hair is falling out less, my scalp feels so much better but it made my actual hair shaft feel frizzier than normal because it looked thicker. But you can't get a shampoo that does it all I guess. Overall I liked this and I would buy it again and use it weekly on my hair.

You can buy Tony Maleedy's Natural Scalp Therapy from and they cost £17.50 each, with free delivery throughout September. Although I would class this as a luxury buy for myself, I think the shampoo is good value for money because it did make my scalp feel more comfortable and my hair thicker
