Things I love about Autumn - The Blogger Tag

Suddenly we blinked and summer was gone, although we had a lovely long summer this year and I loved every moment of it. But there is no stopping Autumn, she is well on her way now as the mornings feel crisper and the days are getting shorter.  I was tagged by http://www.chronicalsunflower.co.uk in the Autumn/Fall blogger tag, so please also pop over to see her post on the subject.

1. What is one candle you MUST light every Autumn?

I don't really have a favourite candle until it starts to get a little colder, then I usually go for a gingerbread candle. It reminds me of cold evenings drinking hot chocolate and eating gingerbread. My daughter is always buying me candles because she knows I love them so much.

2. When you think of Autumn, what does it remind you of?

The sound of the leaves on the ground as you walk through them, although I have barely seen any this year because we have had such a lovely summer. It reminds me of picking conkers when I was a child and putting them on a string so that I could have conker wars in the school playground. We couldn't possibly do that, these days because of health and safety.

3. What is your all-time favourite fall/Halloween movie?

It will always be the Freddie movies. They were the big movies of the time when I was a teenager. A Nightmare On Elm Street seems so tame these days, but as a teenager, they scared the crap out of me. I never liked the films with Michael Myers or Jason in them. I think the masks scared me more than anything.

4. What Halloween costume do you have in mind?

I have a witches dress that comes from Ann Summers, I usually wear that with a pair of leggings. Or I bought a new one this year for £2 from Poundland and it is a killer fairy tale character. I'm not sure what I will wear, but I have to do the whole Trick or Treat thing this year with Tilly because Kim is working. I never went out on Halloween as a kid because my parents saw it as begging. Nowadays it seems to be much more accepted as a celebration and Tilly goes to houses that are decorated.

5. What is your favourite Autumn trend?

I don't really follow trends, I prefer to make up my own style. I do have a huge brown woollen wrap that I love to wear in the autumn before we have to start wearing a coat.

6. When you think of Autumn, what drink comes to mind?

It has to be hot chocolate, to me its a comfort drink as the weather starts to get colder. But as I have been following the Slimming world diet for a couple of months, I need to find a healthier version of the drink. I love grabbing a Costa hot chocoalte when I am out shopping because it makes you feel so warm inside when it starts to get a bit colder.

7. What is go-to Autumn beauty product? A must have staple!

Body butter, the autumn can bring some strong winds and it is a bit of a shock after the summer. We live by the sea so the winds are stronger than if we lived inland. So you need to stop the wind from drying your skin out and keep moisturised.

8. Do you prefer apple pie or pumpkin pie?

Apple pie, pumpkin pie is more of an American thing and every year I say I am going to make some pumpkin pie, but I never actually do it. Apple pie and cream or custard is a very English dessert.

9. Do you have any Autumn traditions? If so tell us all about it!

I manage to get a holiday to Turkey every Autumn. So As soon as the summer is over, the weather starts getting a bit chillier and the nights start getting darker, I know it's going to be time to go away again. I love getting some Autumn sun, we all look so pale in the autumn and winter, so I always have a sun tan for the late autumn and some of the winter. I also start thinking about Christmas in early Autumn, I like to buy Christmas decorations and bits as soon as I see them in the shops because they might sell out nearer Christmas.

10. The moment of truth, is Autumn your favorite season?

Although Autumn is very colourful with the leaves falling to the ground, I still think that I prefer summer. Summer seems so carefree and we can do what we want. The days are longer and the weather is perfect. We seem to have more days out in the summer than we do, any other season. Autumn is normally packed with lots of ideas for Halloween, but the Christmas adverts are coming on to the tv and It makes Tilly think that Christmas is just around the corner, when in reality she has to wait a few more months.
