10 Awesome Uses For Lemon That You Never Knew

When life gives you lemons.... find a way to make them benefit you and your life. We always have a stock of lemons on the house because they are such a benefit to you. Lemons are high in vitamin C, folate, potassium, flavonoids and compounds called limonins. And they are a fruit that you can do so much with, from popping a slice into your summer drink or garnishing food with them. But there are so many other things that you can do if you have a lemon in the house. Even if you are going to buy one, they are only about 25p each. So in this blog post, we are sharing some ideas of other things you can do with the lemons.

  1. Add salt or sugar to some lemon juice and exfoliate your hands and body
  2. Dab your age spots every day with a lemon and leave it for 15 mins before rinsing it away. It will gradually help your age spots fade.
  3. Have a homemade facial with fresh lemon juice and 60 MLS of almond oil (watch out for allergies) or olive oil. This will cleanse and moisturise your face.
  4. Use 2 tablespoons of Lemon in your scalp daily to get rid of dandruff. Apply it and rinse it away, then do another second rinse to make sure the lemon is all washed away. Make sure it is completely rinsed because you might find that the lemon bleaches your hair.
  5. Clean your nails with a slice of lemon. Because of the bleaching property of lemon, you will have lovely white nails within a few minutes. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the lemon juice into some clean water and soak your fingers in it for 10 minutes. Then take the squeezed lemon and pop your fingers inside it and scrub your nails with the insides.
  6. Using 2 teaspoons of lemon and a teaspoon of brandy, you can create a little moisturiser to help keep the wrinkles at bay on your face. apply it all over and leave it for 5 minutes before wiping away.
  7. If you have a cold, either a winter or summer one then you can make this simple remedy for helping to ease the symptoms. Take a spoonful of honey, a slice of lemon and a drop of brandy or whisky and add them to hot water. Drink it whilst it's hot and it helps relieve congestion.
  8. If you are suffering from spots, you can cut a lemon in half and add some honey to it, the antibacterial benefit of the lemon and honey will help to soothe and get rid of the spots.
  9. Soothing chapped and sore lips. Again because of the antibacterial benefits of lemon, you can wipe some lemon over your chapped lips and leave it overnight. It will help moisturise them.
  10. Wipe a slice of lemon over your teeth to bleach them ready for that summer smile!

Have you ever used lemon for anything else other than eating it? My daughter loves it and she would eat it all the time if she could, but now there are so many other things to do with a lemon. Have you got any other ideas to try?
