Getting Married This Year

Last year, thousands of weddings around the world were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many couples have been left heartbroken. As they were forced to put off their nuptial plans until this year, 2021! Now that 2021 is here, though, restrictions are still in place in many areas – so the question remains: should you postpone your wedding again, or are you getting married?

At the end of the day, the choice is yours; you may need to reduce your guest numbers, but you might not want to wait any longer to become officially married. In this blog, we will explore some key advice for those deciding to go ahead with their wedding this year.

What will be different in a 2021 wedding?

Every wedding is unique, but a 2021 wedding will be even more special considering the circumstances. You might find that people are even more emotional and happy to see you wed after the difficult year we have all had. Emotional reactions aside, will there be practical differences to your 2021 wedding, too.

If you choose to have a wedding in 2021, it is likely that your guest list will need to stay limited. While we all wish we could pile into a church or a reception hall, it just isn’t possible in today’s climate.

Here are some factors to consider when thinking about your 2021 wedding!

  1. Social distancing.

Social distancing will be a big feature of your wedding. The two-metre rule is still applying for many people who are mixing between households. This is in order to avoid potential transmission of the virus. This does mean your dancefloor might not be such a tight-packed event as it usually is at weddings!

  1. Masks.

Even if there isn’t a hard and fast rule about masks at your wedding. Some people may even choose to wear them. Personal decisions should be respected, even if they may differ between guests and family.

  1. Venue rules.

Wherever you choose to hold your wedding, there will be regulations in place at the venue you hire. This means you will have to comply with the rules, regardless of your own views or opinions about them!

What won’t change, whilst getting married?

Ultimately, although there will be some practical differences at your 2021 wedding, it will still be a joyful event that everybody enjoys!

Some things never change, and the chance to be in the room with your friends and family. Celebrating love, will never be ruined by a few restrictions.

In addition, there may actually be some advantages to having your wedding in 2021. You may save money on the venue and food and drink. Seeing as the guest list will be smaller! Similarly, you may be able to find beautiful garments such as Ronald Joyce wedding dresses that are available at very good prices.

Final Thoughts

If you can’t bear to put off getting married for another year, why not go ahead and host it in 2021? Things won’t be exactly the same, but at the end of the day, you will be able to celebrate the best day of your life with those you hold nearest and dearest.
