On a recent trip to Brasov, I stayed at Aro Palace Hotel. The outside of the building is original as it was built in 1939, just before the second world war broke out in Europe and it still stands today. For over 80 years, it has been enjoyed by visitors from all over the world. In 2005 it got a complete refurbishment which raised it to the 5-star level it maintains today.
It is built in an Art Deco design and the features look original on the outside. But as you walk in, it is pure luxury. The reception is welcoming as you enter the building and there is always someone to help you there. I took the photos when I had finished at the hotel, I forgot to take them before.
Inside The Aro Palace Hotel, Brasov
There is a huge lobby where you can meet with friends and have a social drink. The lobby has a piano, where a pianist plays in the evenings, giving a relaxing ambience to the hotel. At the back of the lobby, there is a room where you could hold meetings or work quietly.

There is a restaurant on the top floor, and a bar on the bottom floor where breakfast is also served. The bar closes quite early in the night, but there is a mini bar in your room, where you can get a drink at a very reasonable cost. And you can also find a bar in town if you want to go out.

Visit The Swimming Pool And Spa
There is a pool and spa to spend some time relaxing as you enjoy your stay at Aro Palace Hotel, Brasov. The pool is great for spending time in on a hot day. Although it is open to the public for a cost. The swimming pool has a huge glass ceiling to let in plenty of light and you get free access during your stay.
The pool is open from 7 am until 10 pm, so even if you are out all day, you can still find time to take a swim. The wellness centre offers massages and pampering. Whilst there is also a gym where you can keep on top of your fitness regime whilst you are away.

The Rooms In Aro Palace Hotel, Brasov
At the back of the lobby, there are lifts to take you to your room. I was in 512 and it had a beautiful view of the mountains and greenery outside. The room was very comfortable, it had 2 single beds and everything you could need to enjoy your visit. The bed was comfortable and I slept so well at night.

There were all the little amenities you would need to enjoy your stay. The bathroom was filled with mini bottles of shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and body lotion. There were also sewing kids, slippers, robes and shoe shine kits in the cupboard of the room.

There are comfortable seats and a small table for you to work at if you need it. You can even use that space to enjoy a coffee from the coffee machine in the room. There is also a safe to put your valuables in, although it was quite high. As a short person, I struggled to put things in there and take them out. But you can put your cash, passports and valuables in there until you need them.

The Staff At The Hotel
Because I was an English person visiting Romania for the first time, it was a last-minute trip. I was worried about not being able to speak the lingo. But all of the staff I spoke to actually spoke English, which made it so comfortable for me.
The housekeepers work hard, they were cleaning rooms from the moment I got up. If you need anything during your visit, they will be more than happy to help out. I didn’t ask to have my room cleaned as I was only there a couple of days, and the housekeepers are busy enough. So I do this in most hotels I stay in, If it can help a housekeeper, then I am happy. I just put the do not disturb sign on the door.

The staff behind the reception go out of their way to help you. From looking after your shopping bags whilst you nip back to the hotel, to ordering a transfer back to the airport. I needed an iron during my stay and one was delivered to my room within minutes.

The staff in the bar and breakfast restaurant were always busy. They were very attentive to your needs and they were always making sure you didn’t need anything. They were always replenishing the food, as it ran out and everything was perfectly made.
Breakfast At Aro Palace Hotel, Brasov
Breakfast was the best! it was awesome and I fell in love with their oat compote-type breakfast. There was a huge variety of food to eat from cooked to continental.

So you could really fill up ready for a day out. Because it was my first visit to Romania, I was really interested in trying the local food and trying something different every morning. The breakfast was very similar to something I would eat at a Turkish hotel.

How To Get To Aro Palace Hotel, Brasov
The address of the hotel is B-dul Eroilor 27-29, Brașov, 500030, Romania. If you arrive at Brasov train station, you take bus number 4 from outside of the station and tap your contactless card on the machine. Then use your google maps to know when to get off the bus. Or you can look out for the bus station in the old town. It is across the road from the hotel.
If you are flying into Bucharest airport or the newly opened Brasov airport, you can take a transfer. I used Direct Aeroport from Bucharest airport. And as a solo woman traveller and it was perfectly safe. The transfer was 100 Lei. I didn’t book as flights rarely run on time, and my flight was 4 hours late.
You can also use an Uber or a Bolt car. These are better than taxis as you can book and pay online.
