The Perfect Base

When you do your make-up, the base is probably the most important thing to think about because, without a good base, the rest of your make-up won’t sit right. I am not great with my own makeup but I always try to get my base perfect because that’s half the battle done. Hopefully, this blog post will help to get you the perfect base too.

Start with your cleanser, toner and moisturiser, you need a clean grease free start to the process so give it a wipe over with some micelles water and pop your moisturiser over the top. While your waiting for that to sink into your skin, get your other products ready. You’re going to need some good brushes, a primer, concealer, foundation, and powder and if you have problems with excessive red on your face like me, use a green cream too.

Buy Good Quality Products

Brushes are important, I know we all see them in the pound shop or on special offers on Amazon. But never buy the brushes that you see for a pound or two. My favourite brushes are from Nuskin, Real Techniques and Superdrug. Some people use a foundation sponge. But I can’t get to grips with one of them and feel that the coverage is better with a brush.

Even Out The Perfect Base

A primer has many uses, it will even your skin tone out. And will actually hide your fine line and wrinkles. You do get many different primers from illuminating ones to mousse primers. A primer will make your skin feel soft to the touch. And it evens the skin out for good foundation coverage.

How To Use Concealer

Concealer and colour corrector are both applied before the foundation. When you use a colour corrector, make sure that you don’t use too much of it otherwise your skin will look too orange or green. Add the colour corrector only to the parts that need the colour toning down and use the concealer to hide dark circles under the eyes and imperfections or blemishes on your face. Try to buy a concealer that is the same shade as your foundation or a tiny bit lighter. If it’s too dark, it will show through the foundation. You can also use a concealer a few shades lighter to highlight areas of your face.

Foundation For The Perfect Base

Choosing the right foundation shade is always difficult. One of the reasons is that the light inside a shop isn’t real and the shades will look different once you get outside. So if you find a shade that you think might suit you, choose another shade on either side of that shade and put all three shades together on the jawline. When you notice which one has blended in better, you will know which one suits you best. If you can, always take the foundations over to the shop window to get more natural light and look at it on your skin. It’s always best to have at least two different foundations for your skin tone. One for the winter me one for the summer, because your skin time changes in the summer due to the sun tanking your face.
