How To Have A Cheap Date

What do you think of when someone says ‘cheap date’? Do you think a few drinks down the pub and then back to hers for a shag? Firstly, that is not how to treat a woman, so get your mind out of the gutter! A cheap date is a rare thing these days because going out can be so expensive.

Even going to the cinema means taking out a small loan, it’s not just the cinema tickets, it’s the drinks and popcorn too. Dates do not need to be expensive, they are as expensive as you make them. If it is the first date, then make sure you get to know a bit about her first. Chat on the phone, or online for a little while before you decide to go on a date. You won’t want to take her paintballing if she is a high-maintenance girl. You don’t want to take someone with a drink problem to the pub. And you don’t want to take your date to see a horror movie when she is a chick flick kind of girl.

When you feel confident enough in each other’s company, you can get to know each other better if you stay home and do something together. Then there is no shouting over each other in a pub or not being able to talk in the cinema. Get a movie that you both fancy watching and stream it from your Netflix or Amazon account. Make some popcorn, grab some drinks and get comfortable to enjoy the movie.

Another thing to do at home is cook dinner and put on a romantic meal at a fraction of the cost of going to a swanky restaurant. You do not need to go for three courses, one is plenty enough. Make something that is filling like spaghetti bolognese, it is easy and quick to make. Everyone loves a pasta meal, but obviously, check your date isn’t vegetarian or vegan before you serve it. Set the table with candles to add a bit of romance, and dim the lights.

If you don’t want to do a cooked meal, you could opt for a lunch date. Then enjoy a picnic in the local park, or on the seafront. Make sandwiches, sliced fruit and veg, dips, sausage rolls…. Whatever you think will be great for your picnic. Some cold drinks straight from the fridge on a hot day in a cool bag will quench your thirst. Pack a blanket to sit on and you are ready to go. If it rains, don’t let it put you off, have the picnic at home instead.

Become a tourist in your own town or city. How many times do people visit your town or city to see landmarks? But you never get a chance to see them. Now is the time to do it, take your date for a walk around the city castle or cathedral. Go and see the street art along the riverside. Many of these activities are free to do. You just need to find the time to do them.
