All The Ways Blogging Helped Me Heal

Discovering blogging has probably been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Before I started to write, I was lost! So very lost! There have been times since I started the blog that I have struggled, but I have always had support. Here are all of the ways that blogging helped me heal.
Blogging Helped Me Heal With PND
Tilly was three years old when I was finally in a place that wasn’t so scary. After she was born, I suffered with delusions and fear of someone hurting my child. I thought she was going to be hit by a bus or swept away by a tidal wave. It was a scary time to live. With support from my Psychiatrist, friends and family, I started to feel better. But I don’t remember much of her little life. Then, as her 3rd birthday was approaching, I knew I needed to document everything. So thats how my blog started.
I wrote down my feelings and a few lines about what we had done that day. I also told my manager, who encouraged me to write about things at work. So I guess thats where my reviews started. Writing the blog meant I didn’t feel so alone. Eventually, I started to get a little network of blogger friends together.
It Gave Me Confidence
PND took everything away from me. It took my dignity, it took my confidence, and it took my ability to do much in my life. I couldn’t even leave the house without someone coming with me. My life was run with a rota (it still is)! I have to know what I’m doing and when I am doing it. Blogging gave me my confidence back. It helped me to speak with people again. And it helped me to express myself. The more I met new bloggers, the more of the old me came back. I was never going to be the same person as before I had Tilly. But there were parts of me that I didn’t want to see again, anyway.
When brands started to work with me and send stuff, I knew that my confidence was coming back. I realised that I had needed these people to be part of my life. The more my confidence returned, the more I wrote. And even nowadays, you can see it in my writing. If I lose my confidence, I don’t write much.
Blogging Helped Me Heal When My Daughter Was Taken
When my daughter was groomed online, I had nowhere to turn. I couldn’t make sense of what had happened. And even before I spoke to some of my friends, I spoke to my blogger buddies. They helped me to see that what was happening was real and there were ways that I could help my daughter. Unfortunately, my daughter didn’t want help because she had been groomed so much. Being able to write down what happened to my family meant that I not only helped myself, but also other families who might need some support in the same situation. I wanted people to come and be able to read our experiences, so they knew they were not alone.
Writing it on my blog meant that it got it out of my head, and when I read it back, it made sense to me. Whilst it was stuck in my head, it just went round in circles. And there never seemed to be any way to make sense of the mess. I also got so much support from my online community, which helped me immensely.
Blogging Helped Me Provide For My Family
When my older kids were younger, everything was a struggle. I never had enough money for the things they wanted. I never had money for holidays. Don’t get me wrong, we had £9.50 holidays with the Sun newspaper and I look back at them with so many memories. As they got older, I could afford a trip to Jamaica and then New York. But all the time they were little, I felt like a failing parent. Some days I didn’t have enough money to get a food shop – and this was before food banks.
When it came to Tills, I didn’t want to go through that again with her. So when I started receiving things to review, it was a game-changer! The moment I received my first collab with a brand, I was so excited. It was only a tin opener, but it might as well have been a gold bullion. This led to further collabs with brands, and it means that Tilly had all of the new toys as they were released, and she was also able to pass on the ones she didn’t want. Eventually, leaping to monetise meant that we went from surviving on my wages to actually living! It means I could travel with Tilly more than I did with the older kids. Although she hasn’t been to Jamaica or NYC yet. We also have travel brands that work with us and help us travel affordably.
