As soon as your child hits year 10, it is all about GCSE’s and constant revision for tests and exams. This puts so much pressure on your teenager and they often find it hard to cope. I don’t believe in the pressure that they are put under, and it is understandable that they suffer from stress. Schools do not seem to notice the student struggles that kids are under But there are ways that you can help your child to find exams easier to do. Tilly struggles with education as she has dyslexia, she isn’t alone with this. Here is a way to use Performance Learning to help your teenager with exams.
What Is Performance Learning
Performance learning is a programme that was designed by Tej. He understands the school system isn’t working for all of our kids. He knows first hand because the school system failed him! So as he got older, he knew he wanted to find a way to help children to learn at school. This is where Performance Learning started. It is a way to help your child to do better at school, where the schools failed them.
Performance Learning Provides live workshops, digital Performance Learning provides live workshops, digital assessments and learning pathways that are bespoke to your child’s learning needs. Tej and his technology teaches your child how to learn. He has delivered this to 100’s of schools and proven through academic research the remarkable success rate Performance Learning achieves.
We attended a Performance Learning live session with Tej, where your teenager will learn to retain, recall and use the information they are given at school. By doing this it helps your child’s wellbeing and they are happier and more confident at school. This will also result in better exam results for your child.

Your child will have a performance Learning assessment which will assess where your child is in the education system, they they adapt the performance learning course to suit them. Every child is different and works to their own level at school. So personalising the course, helps them as an individual.
How Does Performance Learning Help Your Teenagers With Exams?
There are 3 core themes that are used by Performance Learning to help your teenager. These are intellectual skills, emotional resilience and exam readiness.
Intellectual Skills
Your child will learn to organise the information they have. They will make connections between the work they are studying and they will learn to approach the work and study with a more positive mindset.
Emotional Resilience
They will learn how to manage the stress they are under. They will learn to build their own confidence and they will learn how to get a more positive mindset to complete the work they are studying or the revision they are doing. And they really need to look after their wellbeing, especially in times of exams.
Exam Readiness
They learn revision skills, time management skills and strategies to be ready for the exams. Using the skills they have learnt, they will be ready to partake in exams in a relaxed, anxious-free attitude. Your child will be confident with the preparation they have done. And they will be prepared for the questions they are about to face.
Live Sessions With Tej
Performance Learning run live sessions within the classroom environment to help your child. We were gifted a 2 hour session for Tilly. As soon as we arrived Tilly was welcomed by Tej and Tilly felt welcome and wanted in the classroom. The other children were all at different levels in the session. But the best thing is that when you follow the Performance learning coaching, it doesn’t matter which level you are at. Everyone follows the performance Learning session at the same level. Tej understood that everyone was at a different level and following different subjects at school and he treated each child as an individual.

The Performance Learning course was explained easily for teenagers to understand. And as they were given the workbook on the day, they could get started straight away. Although they do not learn as much as they learn in the 12 week course, they do learn about the important parts like how to retain the information that they are studying.
Tej could see how everyone was at a different level and he was calm and positive with the way he spoke to Tilly. This helped to change her mindset to be positive in the way she studies. Even if she did something wrong, he didn’t make a big deal of it. He was positive and made suggestions of how to do it another day.
I found that her being in a classroom setting, with Tej really helped her to retain everything. Tilly gets easily side-tracked in life. But in the classroom she was glued to what Tej was saying. The work book was explained to her in person too, making it easier for her to use it to her maximum potential.
How Else Can You Access Performance Learning To Help Your Teenager?
Your child gets access to online assessments that track their progress as your child works through the Learning Performance course. They will have 24/7 access to their personalised learning platform. They will receive the Performance Learning work book through the post, so they can use that. Writing things down helps them retain information. Lastly, once a month they will have a live session with Tej through Zoom or in person depending on your location .

What Did We Think Of Performance Learning To Help Your Teenager With Exams?
Tilly’s school has failed her! But the education system in general has let her down, like other children. I didn’t know where to turn, the school is rubbish. They support kids that are excelling in school, but the other kids fall through the system. This is probably down to fact that there is not enough SEND support and kids get ignored. So I really did not know where to turn.
When I was introduced to Performance Learning, I didn’t know what to expect. Tilly had told me the week before, that she got 6 out of 30 for a recent science exam. This is her strongest subject, yet she struggled with it.
When we were given the Performance Learning workbook, we realised how easy it was to get Tilly to organise what she needed to learn, structure it so she understood it. Retain the information and recall it later. She learned how to understand the work better and apply what she had learned in her exams.
The workbook teaches your child to ‘chunk’ their work by writing only the important points they need to remember. Then they try to remember and write those points on to a memory sheet. Then they rewrite the work they were studying in their own words. This way of learning helps you to retain information more easily. Because it is written in their own words.
A Friendly And Calming Environment
During the live classroom session Tej had a very calm voice in the way he spoke to the teenagers. Which takes stress away from the situation. Teachers can be loud and they treat the kids in a classroom as if they are all at the same level. Tej, spoke to the teenagers at their own level of understanding, making each child feel confident in the classroom. He shows empathy to the children he is working with, because he struggled at school too. So he knows how hard it can be to take all of the school work in. I wish Tej works in my daughters school. Schools need more people like Tej.
