An Exciting Autumn Bucket List Things To Do

Last Updated on: 2nd October 2022, 02:15 pm
Autumn is here and it has got cold and windy. But that doesn’t mean that you have to lock yourself up in your house. There are so many exciting things outside to do, and we want to share some ideas with you. Do you have an Autumn bucket list of things that you want to do?
I know things are tough at the moment but lots of things on the list are free to do. And you can do them with kids of all ages.
Leaf Painting Or Chalking
Go for a walk and pick up some leaves. Bring them home and give them to your kids and let them paint them or chalk over them. Give them a glue stick and some paper so they can stick them and make a picture. This will keep them busy for hours. Talk about how the old leaves feel and what colour they are.

Splashing In Puddles
All kids love this activity and it needs to be on your autumn bucket list of things to do. Pop on their raincoat, trousers and wellington boots. Then let them jump as high as they can in puddles. Let them kick the rainwater and have so much fun.

Walks In The Woods
Walks in the woods are adventures for kids. Obviously, this can be a muddy activity in the autumn. So wear old trainers or wellies so they don’t slip over. Talk about the trees and why the leaves are brown and falling off the tree. Then you can take these leaves home and do the leaf painting activity.

An Indoor Picnic
It might be too cold for a picnic, but it is not too cold for an indoor picnic. Gather a blanket and set your picnic up on the front room floor. If you have a conservatory, you can have a picnic there and it’s almost like being outside – but on the inside.

Make Pumpkin Or Butternut Squash Soup For Cold Lunchtimes
October is all about everything Halloween. So when you get your pumpkin to carve, keep the insides and make a pumpkin soup. This is a free meal because you would only have thrown them away.

Make A Leafy Garland
If you want to make a leafy garland for your front door, this will be so easy to do. Collect some brown, orange, and red leaves. The more colours that you have, the better it will look

Hold A Halloween Party
All kids love Halloween, so hold a party with their friends as well as your family. You can put a party on really cheaply if you shop around at the different supermarkets. You could even ask for the guests to bring something to add to the food table. Then there is more than enough to go around. This is often called a sharing table or an American supper.
Make the food into Halloween shapes. We have some great ideas here for you to copy.

Grab Your Thick Jumpers
There is nothing cosier than wearing a thick woolly jumber in the autumn and winter. Wearing a jumper will help you feel cosy and also keep the heating bills down. We are all in for a harsh autumn and winter with the cost of living crisis. So scour round charity shops and go shopping in the sales for some jumpers and cardigans. Even look at getting an Oodie or a cheaper Primark version.

Go To A Halloween Party
I am sure you will find loads of local Halloween parties in your area. All you need to do is look on your local FB page and see who is selling tickets. Going to a large Halloween party like this is cheaper than putting your own one on! You might even be lucky enough to have a friend who is having a party.

Go To A Harvest Festival
When we were little we all had harvest festivals at school and the food went to the elderley in the community. these days when a school or a church has a harvest festival they donate the food to a local food bank. This is because of the increase in people needing food banks and not getting enough food to supply the families.
So if you get the time pop down to the local harvest festival service at the school or in church. It is a time to be grateful for what we have.

Donate To A Food Bank
There is a living crisis at the moment and others need help, just like we do too. There might have been a time that you needed some extra help. If you are in a position to help back, now is the time. We always try and drop an extra food item into the food bank box at the local supermarket. It might only be a 30p bag of pasta and a 59p jar of pasta sauce. But it is a meal for a family and thats all that matters.

Have A Garden Camp Out
The nights are drawing in and it is getting so much colder. But the weather might warm up and we get the Indian summer that we were promised. If this happens, then get the tent out and have a mini campout in the garden. Put on your thermals, your thick jumpers and drag the duvets down stairs. Make it warm and cosy in the tent and cook around a campfire. If you are camping in the autumn, make sure you stay warm but mostly have fun.

If you enjoyed this autumn bucket list of things to do, then please pop over an read yesterdays post about books to read this October.
