There is no better feeling than bringing light into your home. It makes your house feel so much cleaner and fresher as well as making it feel like your house is bigger. It is also a well-known fact that longer days and extra light are also very good for your mental health. Being so dark and dull is enough to make...

Costs of owning your own home are rising all of the time, it is sometimes difficult to make the ends meet with the wages that you get paid. Although the cost of living is on the rise, there are actually some things that you can do in your home that will help you to save money, by cutting down on...

Wow, Matilda turned 9 years old at the weekend! I cannot believe how grown up she has become all of a sudden. I am not the type of mum that has birthday parties for her, instead, I would rather spend a day out with her instead. I am not a mumsy mum and although I love her with all my...

I don’t know if you remember but last summer we were involved in a car accident on a visit to Holland to see my son and daughter in law. We were lucky that the car braked fast and we walked away with bruises. This was down to my daughter in laws quick thinking and the safety of the car. We all...

Dear Mother It’s been nearly 9 and a half years since you chose to walk away from me and my little family. 9 and a half years since you had a kind word to say about me and 9 years since I welcomed Matilda into my life. So when you walked past me on Thursday, whilst staring at me it...

Winters can be harsh, but we are lucky here in the UK because this year it’s been quite a mild one so far and I seem to have escaped any colds and flu. Last year we had the Beast From The East and winter seemed to last forever. This year it seems that America has had a bad winter and...

Do you ever have nights where you just cannot sleep? I hate it because sometimes I’m up until 3am because my brain won’t switch off and other nights, I try to sleep but I just can’t get comfortable. Then you need to get up at 7.30 am to get ready for the school run. Wearing the zombie mum look, isn’t...

Today’s #blogtober post is supposed to be about forest creatures to celebrate national badger day. Well .not even going to pretend I know anything about badgers because I actually don’t! So instead I am putting a different spin on the blog post and am handing the blog.post over to Kim at Me, My life and the TARDIS. Her nickname is...

So I was totally worried about taking Tilly to Turkey, we have travelled so much in the past, but Turkey seemed so far away from home and I really wasn’t sure how she would cope with the heat, how she would cope with the different way of life and how she would manage with the swimming pool that was 1...

Last year I took Tilly camping for one of the first times since she was a baby, we went to Geronimo, a kids festival. Going camping poses so many problems for us because I don’t drive, so when we went last year, we took a tiny one skin tent, sleeping bags and an airbed – that was it. Carrying anything...

We always use our mobile phone on a daily basis, if you’re anything like me, you will panic if you don’t have your phone in your hand. But as we have this device, we might as well make money from it. Have you ever thought about using apps that can earn you money? It might only be a little bit...

What on Earth is Cyclothymic Disorder? Try explaining cyclothymic disorder to someone unfamiliar with mental health conditions is like trying to get your dog to tell time. It may be possible but it will take a lot of time and probably a miracle as well. So, in an effort to help the general public understand this uncommon illness, it is...

I am in real need of updating my white goods, recently I had to buy a new tumble dryer because mine broke and to be honest I was glad to see it go because it was one of the Hotpoint ones that could catch fire. It had been modified but I still didn’t like to use it. So I bought...

If you’re a book lover or an avid reader, you probably have bookcases dotted around your home filled with all your favourite books and magazines. Reading can be such a fulfilling past time and it can be so rewarding to lose yourself in a novel and open yourself up to new worlds. Whether it’s adventurous novels or down-to-earth documentaries, books...

I am the person who is irresponsible with money, the person that never checks prices as she goes around the supermarket and I am the person that leaves her bills until the very last moment before paying them. I think we can safely say that I don’t think about economising because I am worried about missing out on the better...

Have you ever wanted to go somewhere and thought it is too far? The world really isn’t as big as we think and we can go anywhere and do anything as long as our determination will take us there. Tilly yearns to travel and she will go anywhere that she can. This is amazing for her to learn and see...

As Tilly gets older she is more curious about the world that we live in and yearns to travel to so many different destinations. I had always said that I wanted to travel the world when the kids were older, but then along came Tilly and I am trying to fulfil my dreams but not as around the world trip,...

We all have access to the internet these days and with smartphones being so clever and having the ability to use the internet on the go, it means the internet is always at our fingertips. Between apps and websites, there is a lot to help you compare prices and save money. This year we have decided that we need to...

Wow, we are really on our way into the new year now. Christmas seems like it happened ages ago and everything is back to normal or at least how it should be. The school holidays dragged though, Omg! How long do kids need off for a school break? Surely 16 days over Christmas is too much for any parent to...

Dear Dr Seuss I never ‘got you’ as a child, I never understood the nonsense books and I suppose, I never really got into the books because they weren’t as widely available in schools as they are now. I grew up in an army environment and spent most of my childhood in Germany. We didn’t have the access to bookshops like...

It’s been two years since Nathan Green was convicted of paedophilia and was sentenced to 18 months suspended sentence for two years. It’s been two long years of trying to put our lives back together again and two even longer years of not knowing where my daughter actually lives and whether he moves her again. Sometimes I wonder if I...
