How To Get Kids To Stay Active This Winter

Getting the kids to stay active this winter is a challenge, like all winters. They don’t want to be outside in the cold. They want to be inside where it is cosy and warm. Then they get their computer games out and play on their devices. It can feel like a losing battle.

But getting kids out is so good for their mental health as well as getting them the much-needed exercise that they also need. We just need to think about fun activities to do with them whilst they are out and about. There is nothing more fun than the Stay Active products that we are reviewing today.

Why Kids Should Stay Active This Winter

Our kids have missed out on so much time outside in their life, so after Covid, they all got into a routine of staying in and playing computer games or using devices. This isn’t good for their health or their mental health. We all know how much better we all feel for going out for a walk or something. So getting them off their devices can be made easier with some great family-inclusive activities and toys like the Moon Shoes and Sling Back. These toys and activities also help to improve the kid’s balance, coordination, and reaction time whilst they get them moving. They might even find that they make new friends outside whilst they are playing with these toys. This will also help with confidence and self-esteem.

To make it even better, if the weather is too bad this winter, these activities can be played indoors too.

Stay Active Moon Shoes

These Moon Shoes are like walking on trampolines! They are plastic shoes, that are perfect for kids up to size 7 and a half (adults shoe size). The plastic shoe platforms are attached to the plastic base with durable strong black bands. You can adjust the tension on the shoes by adding more or fewer bands. A smaller child will get away with using one black band on each hook. Whereas an older child like Tilly will need 3 bands on each hook to hold the weight and keep the right tension. There are enough bands in the box to put 3 bands on each hook. As well as having a few leftovers….. just in case!

The base has treads on the bottom, so you can use this outside. You can actually use them in the house too and they will not slip on the floor. The shoes are easy to put on and take off with velcro straps. Yet they are secure enough for your child to jump with too.

Stay Active Sling Ball

This toy is a completely different take on the game of catch, it is more exciting and the kids are more likely to play it. With Stay Active Sling Ball, you don’t just need to throw the ball to one another. You get to fling it as high in the air as possible. In fact, it can go as high as 18 meters! Then the next person has to use their racquet to try and catch it.

The game is great to help with kids’ hand and eye coordination as well as getting them outside playing in the fresh air. The balls are soft so if the kids do get over-excited, there shouldn’t be any injuries happening. And as they are soft, it makes it easier to play with the Sling Ball game inside too.

To Play Sling Ball, you need to take a ball and place the loop onto the hook. The hook is on the side of the Sling Ball Racquet. Pull the ball back, as you would with a normal slingshot, and watch the ball head towards the other player.

The other player needs to catch in it their net to get the points. Then it is their turn to sling the ball back, using the Sling Ball Raquet.

What we loved about this Sling Ball game is that we can pack it in our camping box for when we go camping. It is such an easy game to keep people of all ages occupied. And it made us laugh so much whilst we played it. Mainly because we realised that my hand and eye coordination is really shot away.
