Reasons That I’m So Fucking Over Covid

I’m So Fucking Over Covid

I am so done! I am done with Covid, I am done with Brexit. All I bloody want to do is go to see my son, daughter-in-law and 1-year-old granddaughter in Holland. I have been so good throughout the first lockdown. I stayed home and did my bit to stop the spread. We know that was a bit of a shambles with Dom the dickhead Cummins doing his own thing and travelling across the country with a wife, who had Covid and he also had the symptoms. Because he had the money and the influence, he was seemingly allowed to do as he wished, by the government. It didn’t take long for him to turn on his colleagues though when they stopped letting him have his own way.

It seemed that everyone who was wealthy or influential was allowed to do what they wanted. Piers Morgan could fly from Tier 4 to the Caribbean for Christmas. Reality Tv stars and sports stars were flying to UAE for a quick holiday and spreading it all over social media.

What about the normal people?

But what about normal people? The ones who had kept the country running? The parents who struggled with home ed for a year, because they can’t afford a tutor or a nanny. The retail workers had to put up with constant abuse throughout the first lockdown. The NHS workers dropping dead from Covid. The millions of keyworkers in different sectors. I hope you all liked your Thursday clap because that’s all you got. The nurses didn’t even get a decent pay rise this year. One moment they are the people that saved the country and the next they are treated like they have come from a gutter. Keyworkers went from heroes to zeroes in a few weeks.

We have people living from food banks and not being able to pay the bills. We have people out and about refusing to wear face masks because they know they can. They laugh as they say they are exempt because they know that there is nothing you can do. You try to do so much of the right thing to get through this pandemic, and there is always someone kicking you down and you are back at square one. Before you know it BOOM! There is another lockdown and you are isolated from friends and family again.

Going To See Family.

Recently we travelled to Hampshire to see family, that we hadn’t seen for nearly a year and a half. It was so good to see them. But the people we really want to see are the 3 special humans in Holland. My son, daughter in law and granddaughter. We are resisting the urge to go and see them whilst we are in Amber. I don’t want to have to do 10 days self isolation on the return. And I don’t want to have to fork out on over priced Covid tests on the return, when we all know that the companies can sell them cheaper. They are just being assholes and making money from medical tests.

So I need to wait for Holland to go Green. That means it is too late for the half-term break and we will have to go over a weekend. I would travel 6 hours to get there for an overnight trip. But it isn’t long enough. I need time to get to know my granddaughter without being at the end of a video call. So now I will get into trouble with the educational authority if I go to take my 11-year-old to see her family when we can. Especially if it involves a couple of days off school. What the fuck do I do?

Option one, go against government advice and go for a week in half term, whilst it is Amber. Then self isolate for 10 days on my return. Or go when it turns Green and take 2 days off school knowing that its safe to go? 10 days off or 2 days off? My daughter has waited so long to see her brother, she misses him so much. If I had the money and she was in private school, I rather doubt we would have this problem.

Many People In The Same Boat

I am sure there are many many other families that have the same problem as us. There are many other families that have been thrown under the bus by people through Covid. I certainly saw a different side to people. I saw people being selfish and thinking about themselves before anyone else. Then I saw people that I never expected to be nice, be helpful and they got down to it and pulled their weight. Celebrities helping out doing car runs to the local vaccination centre for elderly people. My local taxi firm offering half-price taxis to our local vaccination centre.

Social Anxiety

I am quite sure that I share this alongside the rest of the country, if not most of the world. That awkward feeling of knowing that you have to start going out to meet people again. You have to hold conversations with them and relax being around different people. I have put friends off meeting because I really am struggling to go out and meet them. I want to stay inside my broken down, ramshackle house because it is my castle – my safe place.

Recently I went to London, on my way to Hampshire. I hated it! There were so many people around, they were in your face and loud, very loud. Some were abusive and I guess letting off steam. Maybe I really do just hate people.

Tilly’s mental health has got worse, I spoke to the doctor and he has put her down for CAMHS. But warned me that they are only seeing suicidal kids at the moment. Where is the care before they get to the suicidal state?

We Are All Well And Healthy

The one thing that we have come out of with this is our health. My family, my bubble and my colleagues all escaped the dreaded Covid. Some people were not so lucky, they lost loved ones. I have got through the last year, with my head above water, financially. I am worn out, but still kicking and making my daughters’ life difficult with my embarrassing moments. Lastly, I never thought I would say this too but the government did okay! Boris dealt with more than many other prime ministers had in previous years, in his first few months in office.

Please don’t let there be another lockdown. Please don’t listen to people that spread their Covid lies, without evidence. And if you are offered the vaccine, please take it. It has already helped our country figures drop significantly and the country can get back to normal.
