Some Things I Am Scared Of In Life

Are you scared of anything? It is not shameful to admit to being scared of something. So for today’s post for Blogtober I am sharing the things I am scared of in life. Read the last one – Imagine being scared of something as simple as that!
Being Scared Of Anything Happening To My Kids
There are not really many things I am scared of in life. But the Things that scare me are the things that are closer to me. I Am scared of anything happening to my kids! My son might be married with a family of his own. But every day I worry about him and his family. They live so far away and I cannot keep an eye on them to make sure they are okay.
When my kids were little, I used to shake them every night before I went to sleep. I wanted to know that they would wake up and they were okay. I shook them every night until they were about 11 years old. One day Kim asked me to stop doing it because she couldn’t get back to sleep. It was then that I realised my obsession to make sure they are okay was just too much.
As teenagers, whenever they went out at night, I was worried about them. And even though Kim is 30 years old now, I am still worried when she isn’t home when she says she will be.
Being a parent is hard and even though you worry about your kids when they are little, it doesn’t stop as they get older. Especially after having a child that was groomed and disappeared from my life. Now I worry even more about the children that are still around. Poor Tilly has a more overprotective mother than the older ones had.
My kids are the most precious thing in my life.
I Am Scared Of Long Grass – What A Wimp
So I hate the feeling of long grass going up my legs. I hate the way it feels and I hate not knowing what I might be standing on. I think this is just a fear of the unknown, I don’t like it when I am not in control of what I can’t see.
But come on! Being scared of long grass is a pretty pathetic thing. I think it goes back to when I was little and being a kid in the 80s we would go off for hours on end. We would go and play on a golf course, so the adults used to say ‘Put your wellies on in case you stand on a snake’
But I am also the same if I go in the water and I cannot see the bottom. I really need to man up.
I Am Scared Of People
How is it even possible to be scared of people? But hey, I am! It goes back to my mental health when I had Tilly. I had psychosis and thought people were talking about me and pointing at me. I am very wary of new people and I put up my defences straight away. It always comes across that I hate people and it has become a joke over the years that I don’t like people.
So I am not really horrible to people, I just keep them at arm’s length because they scare the hell out of me! It takes a long time for me to relax with someone new.
I Am Scared Of Flying
I do get excited about flying because I think of the bigger picture. The holiday at the end of the flight. But I hate flying through the clouds! I get scared because I cannot see where I am going. It’s a fear of crashing into something in the clouds, despite the fact that the airline industry uses radars to track planes.
I get a thrill from the takeoff, the zooming down the runway and the wheels lifting off the ground. But that thrill is short-lived when we reach the clouds. Fear just runs through my body and I am also cautious about not letting Tilly see how scared I am. Then as soon as we are about the clouds I get the thrill of realising we are flying 590 miles an hour. You don’t realise how fast you fly until you see another plane flying in the opposite direction. This part of the experience doesn’t faze me at all until we start descending and we go through the clouds again!
