My Husband Never Shows Affection To Me!
If your husband never shows affection and never wants to get close, it can be a tough time for you. You might be blaming yourself for the lack of intimacy, or wonder whether he is having an affair. Your mind goes over time and you feel quite lost in your relationship.
When you first get together, you hold hands in the park, hug each other in the cinema, and cuddle comfortably for two on the sofa. Couples often find it difficult to keep their hands off each other. But this kind of affection changes over the years.
Anyone who has been together for some time will no longer want to hug at every opportunity. People who have been married for a long time also find that romance at home decreases more and more. In long-term relationships, women often complain that their husbands hardly hug them. They long for a more romantic time together again. This is because your relationship changes over the years, especially if you get comfortable with each other.
When Your Husband Never Shows Affection, Does It Mean He Doesn’t Love Me?
We don’t treat each other like love-sick teenagers forever, and that is quite normal. There is no reason to panic. Just because the husband is no longer as cuddly as he used to be does not mean he doesn’t love you. As with many things in love, things change. You have gotten used to each other and no longer feel the urge to show your affection at every opportunity. Of course, we get frustrated and we often misunderstand the situation, which causes stress and tension.
You might feel neglected and unloved, and your husband probably doesn’t understand what he did wrong to make you feel like this. This does not mean he doesn’t love you. It simply means your relationship has evolved and your love has changed. He would still move Heaven and Earth for you!
Your Body And Soul Need Affection To Thrive
But why is the touch of our loved ones so important to us? Isn’t it enough to know how they feel about us? The answer is very simple: because our body needs touch. A hug or holding a hand are so much more than small gestures. They are balm for body and soul. In fact, it has now been proven that touch alone can reduce physical pain. Dentist patients who held the hand of a caregiver during treatment had a much higher pain threshold. The fascinating thing: the closer the people stood, the more the pain was alleviated. Also, stress and sadness can be mitigated by the touch of our partners. So it’s not just longing that makes us seek closeness.
How To Bring Affection Back Into Everyday Life
But what can we do when the cuddles and romance has gone? The most important thing is to talk about how you feel. Most of the time, your husband doesn’t realise that the romance has disappeared or that you miss the cuddles. So don’t get angry with him. Just tell them what you’re missing and ask your husband if they miss the closeness too. What he says to you may surprise you, it might be that he misses the closeness too. If you find it difficult to talk about your feelings, just try to get out of your comfort zone. Take the first step and talk to him, you will feel so much better for it. He might be missing it all too, maybe you need to take the first step and just cuddle him when you need it. The chances are that might kickstart your relationship with him. Start making cuddles a part of your everyday life, you will soon see that it leads to a better relationship and closeness again.
