Winter Skincare

Winter skincare is essential! At this time of year, the dryness is usually greater due to the air’s lower humidity, which causes the skin to evaporate its water into the environment, becoming drier. To overcome these aggressions and keep your skin smoother, brighter and healthier every day, some habits can be included in your beauty routine: moisturise your skin before leaving the bathroom and take advantage of the ease of cleaning oils, in addition to taking care with the shower temperature are some tips that dermatologists suggest. Check out!

1 – APPLY OILS AND CREAMS AT THE RIGHT TIME!

Oils and creams are great allies to hydrate the body’s skin. A super useful tip is that the oils can be used even with the shower open. The moisturising cream, both body and facial, can be applied up to 5 minutes from the bath, since the moist skin absorbs the product better. Tip: even those with oily skin should invest in a facial moisturiser to not leave room for the skin’s peeling and opacity!

2 – WARM AND QUICK BATH IS RECOMMENDED FOR WINTER SKINCARE

In winter, instead of a boiling bath, a warm, quick bath is the best choice! The skin has a natural barrier that protects it from bacteria and other microorganisms, but also from transepidermal water loss. I like to make the analogy between hot shower water and the boiling water we use when we want to degrease a dish. The boiling water breaks down the fat molecules and we see the fat come off. In the skin, the mechanism is similar. The hotter the water, the greater the ability to remove some of the fats that protect the skin. This natural barrier is being eliminated and the skin is more subject to flaking and dehydration and allergies and infections.

3 – SUNSCREEN IN WINTER? YES!

It is not only in summer that we should apply sunscreen: it is that, even in winter, the sun’s rays can cause spots and decrease the production of collagen, which is the protein that maintains the skin’s elasticity. The sunscreen is an investment for the future. The more protected from ultraviolet rays and blue and infrared light, the less collagen the skin loses, and aging is being delayed. The spots can also appear even in winter, and therefore, we must forget the care of the protector.

4 – AVOID EXFOLIATING SPONGES AND LOOFAHS

Some people like to exfoliate their skin with sponges and loofahs during the bath. In winter, we must leave this habit aside to prevent the skin from drying out and bet on natural exfoliations. Thicker areas can be exfoliated with agents with small grains. After exfoliation, hydration should be even greater. Do not repeat this process more than once a week!

5 – LIP BALM AND MOISTURISING CREAM BEFORE BED

In winter, the lips are even drier because of the cold wind and the decrease in water intake. The dermatologists suggest applying a lip moisturiser daily on this part of the body. When the lip’s skin has already dried out and the skins are lifted, avoid pulling not to make sores. A light exfoliation can be done with honey and brown sugar once a week. Also, lipsticks continue to be women’s allies in winter. They usually have moisturising agents and sun protection and help the recovery of the lip. Beware of matte lipsticks and lip tint that can make your lips drier!
