Awesome Drinks This Summer

When the weather is hot, we all want to sit in the garden and drink awesome drinks. Maybe get a few friends around and throw some burgers on the BBQ. But we don’t want to drink the same old boring drinks, do we? So we wanted to share three awesome drinks that you can make.

Cherry Key Limeade

Makes: 4 drinks
Preparation time: 5 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 maraschino cherries
  • 4 limes, sliced
  • 8 tablespoons grenadine
  • 8 tablespoons key lime juice
  • 7-UP ( or any lemon-lime fizzy drink)
  • ice

Instructions:

Place the ice in a glass.

Add in grenadine and key lime juice.

Pour in lemon-lime fizzy drink and stir it well

Finish it off with two cherries and a lime slice.

More lime slices can also be added to the drink if you like it sourer.

Flavoured Water

Makes: 4

Ingredients:

You can make this with a whole range of fruits, but you don’t need to use them all.

  • Lemons
  • Strawberries
  • Oranges
  • Cucumber
  • Lime
  • Mint
  • Melon
  • Water and ice

Instructions:

Get a jug and fill half the jug with ice.

Add the fruit you want in there. Lemon and lime. Orange and Apple. Cucumber and mint etc.

Then fill the rest of the jug with water.

leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours for the fruit to infuse and pour into glasses or jam jars.

Lemonade

Makes: 4

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup of sugar.
  • 1 cup water.
  • 6 lemons
  • 2 to 3 cups cold water (to dilute)

Instructions

Place the sugar and water in a pan and simmer until the sugar dissolves.

Juice the lemons, start with 4, but if that’s not enough to fill a cup, juice the last two.

Put the water and sugar mix into a jug and fill it with cold water.

Pop it in the fridge for an hour and serve with ice and lemon.


Watermelon Mint Smoothie

Makes: 2 smoothies

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups watermelon (frozen is better)
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 2 sprigs mint; 1 diced and 1 for topping
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey; for sweetness
  • ice

Instructions:

Place watermelon, ice, mint, honey, and yoghurt into to a blender.

Layer in a little of each as this makes it easier for it to blend.

Use a spoon to stir around if need be.

Pour into a glass and top off with mint sprig for added decoration.
