How Blogging Changed My Life

Blogging Changed My Life For The Better

When I started my blog, I was starting to recover from PND. I had spent 3 years living life on the edge, and I did not remember much of it. So, as Tilly started to turn 3, I knew it was the right time to start documenting my life. I wanted to be able to look back at my life and use these blog posts as prompts. Of course, I knew nothing about SEO, my grammar was awful, and when I look back at my old posts, I’m embarrassed. But Blogging did change my life, and it sent it in a different direction from what it could have gone. Here is how blogging changed my life and how it could change yours too.

It Gave Me An Outlet To Be Me

I needed a place to write my feelings, where I could be angry, sad or confused, and nobody would judge me. As it was written down, I didn’t have to look at anyone’s face as I was telling them my feelings. There was nobody to judge me or take the piss out of me. I felt better for writing stuff down, even if I didn’t publish a blog post. It was a place I could share my proud moments and my achievements. A place that I could look back and smile. It was (and still is) my little corner of the internet.

It Gave My Kids Things That I Couldn’t Afford

I will always remember the day that a brand contacted me and asked me if I would review a tin opener. You would have thought it was worth hundreds of pounds! I was so excited, and so much effort went into the product that probably retailed at a couple of quid. From then on, it led to book reviews and other gifts from the tin opener brand. Soon enough, I was receiving toys for Tilly. Toys that I couldn’t afford to buy with 4 kids at home. The teenagers received some teenage things, and it was great to be able to provide for them like this for the first time in years.

I started to take more pride in my blog, and I started to share it more with people. Within a couple of years of receiving that first tin opener, I would be gifted things like holidays and be invited to special blogger events and movie premiers. It completely changed our lives.

It Opened Up A Support Network For Me

I didn’t know I needed a support network until I had one. And bloggers are the most awesome network that you can have. They are going through the same things as you. They are all trying to keep their business afloat like you. And they are there without judgment. Some bloggers have come and gone in the time that I have blogged. But the ones like Just Average Jen, Life In A Breakdown, Futures, Anita’s Craft Shop, Miss LJ Beauty, Stylish London Living and many more were there as a support network, and are still there to help and support others. When my daughter was groomed and taken from my life, these people were the ones who picked up the pieces with me and helped to rebuild my life. They supported me through struggles, and hopefully, I am returning the favour and supporting them when they need it.

It Gave Me An Income

Although prices are being driven down all the time with blogging, I am still able to get an income from my blog. It used to make a difference between surviving and actually living a life. Now it makes the difference between having a new adventure or not with Tilly. It also gives me money to put back into my business. Because your blogging business is more than just having a decent laptop. It’s about buying the £1000 lens for your camera that improves your photos for the brands you work with. It also gives you money to buy subscriptions like Canva Pro to help with your business. I know I will never be a millionaire, but I am happy with the little income I do get.

Blogging Changed My Life For The Better

I will forever be grateful for all of the brands I have worked with over the years. Even if they contributed just a little bit. Those little things changed my life, and also changed the lives of others when we donated things over the years. The people made a huge difference, and even those who do not blog anymore are still part of my online life. I had a place to share my life instead of it being stuck in my head! I love my blog because blogging changed my life for the better.

For my daughter growing up, she has known from a young age how social media is manipulated and that a lot of stuff she sees online is fake. She knows that AI is used to create fake posts, and people believe it. She also knows that this is the kind of job she would like to do when she leaves school. Tilly has grown up with photography being a part of her life. And now she likes exploring it herself.
