Katto Kitchen Knives
Me and kitchen knives together spell disaster! I am always cutting myself. But that could partly be down to the fact that I never take any notice of the quality of knives that I buy. After recently using a chef’s knife from Katto, I know there is no going back. But when you have knives from Katto, you need to know how to look after them too.
The 8.5-Inch Chef’s Knife
My brother is a professional chef, and he was ready to try some knives from Katto. So let’s get on and talk about the Chef’s knife that we received for the purpose of review. The 8.5-inch chef’s knife is made with an 8.5″ Japanese AUS-10 steel blade. And it has a hand-carved handle in either walnut, beech, or rosewood. We chose a Rosewood handle for our knife. You can choose to have the knife handle engraved with someone’s name or initials. This is great if it is for a professional chef, and it will be used in a shared kitchen.
The knives from Katto are patterned at the top and that makes them unique and beautiful to look at. The handle is smooth and you can tell how much care has gone into making it by hand. The knives from Katto come with a cardboard sleeve or scabbard. But you can pay £15 for a leather one which will not only protect your knife and you. But it also looks lovely whilst it is covering your blade.
How The Knives From Katto Are Delivered
When you order your knife, it comes in next-day delivery. Obviously, if you order at 9 pm, it will count the following day as the order day and it will arrive in 2 days. But as soon as it arrives it is like opening a birthday or Christmas gift. The knives from Katto arrive in a brown box, covered in brown paper and tied with string. I love the traditional look and it is also good for the environment.
When you open the box, your knives are covered in brown paper confetti to help protect them during delivery and it arrives with the card scabbard if you did not pay for the leather one.
How Well The Chef’s Knife Slices
The Knives from Katto are perfect for everyone. Whether you are a chef or someone who cooks for fun. The Chef’s knife sliced through the food amazingly easily. As if it was slicing through a piece of silk. When you buy cheap kitchen knives, you never really get a decent slice. But with the knives from Katto, you get a thin, perfect slice every time.
The handles on the knives from Katto are crafted really well, making them comfortable to hold. This means you have more control over your knife as you slice.
