That Time We Decided To Book A Restaurant With Opentable
When you are looking for a specific place to eat out, you can spend hours going through the internet. It does get to the point where your brain is filled with restaurants and cafes around you. That is one reason why I use OpenTable to book my meals. We have used it on a few occasions before, like when we visited Top Hat restaurant in London in September. So I wanted to show you how easy it is to book a restaurant with Opentable. And to take the stress out of finding somewhere to eat.
How To Book A Restaurant With Opentable
When you are looking for somewhere to eat, it is so exciting to try different food. Firstly there is a search bar and you put the dates in. Then write the time you want to eat and how many people you want to book the table for. Then write the area that you want to eat in. The website will search all available restaurants for you.
Each restaurant featured on the website has a star rating that customers have left. It also says what food they specialise in cooking. So if you are looking for French food, you can easily find it. Then there are booking slots for you to choose from.
The Anchor Inn Pub And Restaurant
As it is winter, we wanted somewhere that could offer home-cooked meals at an affordable price. We also wanted somewhere local that had a Christmas vibe. This is why we chose to go to the Anchor Inn, Wingham. The booking process was easy as ever and I got emails to confirm the booking and remind me of the booking.
On the booking, there was an option to say if it was a special occasion. So I mentioned it was my friend’s birthday. And when we arrived, there were birthday banners on our reserved table. A little touch like this makes it special.

What We Ordered From The Menu
We ordered drinks and then food. As it was a bitterly cold night we all chose hot drinks to drink. I chose A good old meal of liver, bacon, and onions, with mash. When it arrived it reminded me of how I remembered it as a child. It was absolutely delicious and the gravy was lovely and thick. It cost me £13 for this meal.

Tilly ordered chicken goujons and chips. Sadly the chicken goujons were overcooked and a little dry, but still edible. And it was covered in a spicy covering that Tilly enjoyed. There were loads of chips and this meal was excellent value as it came from the light bites menu. The only disappointment was the overcooked chicken.

My friend ordered fish and chips. Although the meal was advertised with peas, she requested beans instead and they were kind enough to change that for her. Fish and chips are advertised on the pub website and it wasn’t as appealing as it was in the photos and it came with fewer chips than a light bite meal. But even if you go to Macdonalds and buy a burger, it never looks the same as the photo advertising it. She enjoyed her meal and it was £13.00.

Lastly, my friend’s daughter has a small appetite and she asked for nachos as these are her favourites. They only cost £7 and came with sour cream, Salsa, and chillis on the side so she could add them when she wanted They did come with the cheese melted already on them.

How Much it Cost Us
We paid £65.20 for a meal for 4 people. I was surprised to see on the bill that the hot chocolates were £3 each. So we spent a total of £12 on them because we had 4, which seemed a lot more expensive than the normal coffee shop prices that we go to. But if you split the bill four ways, then it was less than £17 each for a meal and drinks.
The meal prices were in line with normal pub prices in my area, maybe a little cheaper than some. The light bite meals and sides were a very good price and I think we would order them if we were to return.
The Atmosphere Of The Anchor Inn
The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly, they checked on all of the customers to make sure everything was okay. There was a huge open fire that was ready to be lit and the pub was decked out for Christmas. The pub seemed to be the centre of a lot of meeting places and they are having carols in front of the pub next week. So it did have great community spirit. The pub was absolutely spotless and clean, not a sticky floor or table in sight.

Are You Ready To Book A Restaurant With Opentable?
If I hadn’t booked through Opentable, I don’t think I would have found this pub. So it does go to show if you book a restaurant with Opentable, the world is your oyster! I would have carried on looking for somewhere that I knew and probably would have eaten the same old food. But we didn’t, we went somewhere else and it was quite a little gem for the village of Wingham. If we were local, we would visit again for the village atmosphere.
