How To Play Monopoly Lifesized In London

Last Updated on: 29th September 2022, 12:06 pm
Before I write this blog post, I just want to say that this was truly one of the best experiences that I think I have done in London! Monopoly Lifesized was so much fun to spend some time on a cold Saturday afternoon. It literally ticked all of the boxes for fun. If you want to know more, then carry on reading. Because you won’t be disappointed if you decide to do this with friends or family.

We were gifted tickets for Monopoly Lifesized and were not required to write a review. But we had so much fun, that we wanted to share our experience.
What Is Monopoly Lifesized?
We have all played Monopoly over the years and it is probably the game that causes most arguments at family get-togethers. But at Monopoly Lifesized you work together as a team to try and beat the other teams on your game board. You all get some money to start the game with, and you roll a dice to work around the board. There are challenges along the way that help you win properties. Then you win houses and hotels to put on your property.
The winners are the team with the most money and property assets, they then win some vouchers to use in the Top Hat Restaurant.
Setting Up Your Team For Monopoly Lifesized.
As soon you enter the building and you are welcomed by staff who check you in. Then you are directed to some lockers to leave your coats and bags whilst you play the game. This makes a huge difference to someone who always carries a big bag on a day out. It also means that you can visit Monopoly Lifesized after you have been shopping for the day.

There are loads of photo opportunities in the entrance area and you are encouraged to take as many photos as you can. You cannot take photos when you are inside the experience. This is good because it spoils the experience for other people wanting to play the game.
The team has to be at Monopoly Lifesized, 15 minutes before your allotted time. This gives you time to check-in. You are given a pager and it buzzes when you are ready to play.

You choose a team name and you are ready to play. Just like the normal Monopoly game, you are given a playing token. But your token is a real person who is going to help you around the game board.
Playing The Game
When you have rolled the dice, you land on a square. The square has a small room which you go in and you complete a challenge. if you win the challenge, you are able to own the property on the square. If you fail the challenge, you cannot get the property and you move on to the next part of the game. When you own a property, if anyone lands on it, you can collect rent from them.
There are 4 teams on each Monopoly Lifesized game board that play together. Two teams roll the dice and play the board. the other two teams will get the chance to earn more money or build a house or hotel for their property. When you have a house on your property you can collect more rent. You can collect even more rent if you build a hotel there.
Just like the normal game of Monopoly, there is a go straight to jail square. If you land on here, you get put into a prison cell and you can pay to get out or complete a challenge.
You cannot take your cameras into the experience, so we have no images whilst we played, but that’s okay because we didn’t want to give spoilers anyway.

Working As A Team On Monopoly Lifesized
Monopoly Lifesized is a great team-building activity. Whether you are there as a work team building activity or as a family day out, you will have a great time. You work in teams of 6, so you can book if there are only 2 or 3 of you. You will be teamed up with another group of people to make a full team. The game is perfect for all ages, although I would say over 9 or 10 years old, is the better age. Our team consisted of people between the age of 12 and 49.
The challenges are easy enough to do, but if you are struggling, you get a few hints from your Monopoly token. you get about 2 and a half minutes to do the challenges, but we completed most of ours in half the time. We only struggled with one challenge.

Winning The Game
The winning team are the team with the most money and assets at the end of the game. It is not only down to the strategy you have or how good you are in the challenge rooms. because it is also down to the roll of the dice, if the dice isn’t on your side you will not win. It just takes one bad roll and if you land on a square with a house or hotel you could end up paying millions of Monopoly money to a rival team. This will give them the lead in the game. You need to put your own hotels onto your properties to maximise your income.
The Banter Within The Game
One thing that I love about people is the banter that you can have with them. And there is banter in the game of Monopoly Lifesized. The playing tokens banter between themselves and they encourage the teams to have friendly banter, whilst also encouraging each other within the game.
The game was super friendly. And we would recommend it to everyone.
What We Thought
We had so much fun playing the game. All of the teams got on well and it was such a friendly game. It certainly wasn’t intense like the board game version can be at home. Everything went so smoothly from the moment we entered the Monopoly Lifesized building. We arrived early enough to relax with a coffee before the game started in the Top Hat restaurant. The restaurant is all about Monopoly and is decorated to match Monopoly Lifesized.
The experience is great for a team-building activity because you can make an evening of it with a meal and a few drinks afterwards. It is also fun for families too. We went with two 12-year-olds, and they were capable of doing the challenges and got involved really well. We had a big age group in our team and everyone enjoyed it.
The winners get a £10 voucher to spend in the Top hat restaurant afterwards. Which will help you save money towards a meal, and believe the meal is worth it. We will be adding a review for the Top Hat Restaurant very soon.
My recommendation is to do this with your friends and family. The sooner you book it, the better value ticket you can get. You can also get family tickets to save some money.
