Easy Autumn Crafts With Kids That You Will All Love
Autumn is going to be here before we know it, and it is a sign to relax a bit more and enjoy the seasons as they change. The summer holidays will be over, and kids will be settling back into school. The cooler weather will give you a great opportunity to get together as a family and spend some time doing some easy Autumn crafts with kids. Sometimes you can go and gather some things from outside and incorporate them into the kids’ crafts. The best thing is that these activities are free to do.
Making crafts with kids isn’t just about making something pretty; it is about spending time together and making memories. It is also about working on their fine motor skills and creativity. Using some of the materials that we talk about in this article means that the craft materials are natural, too. Here are five fun autumn crafts that children of all ages will love.
The Best Autumn Crafts With Kids That We Have Done As A Family
1. Leaf Animals
This is one of the easiest autumn crafts that has been around for years and years. Head out to your garden or local park and grab some colourful leaves. Make sure you get a wide variety of leaves, in different shapes, sizes and colours. There is a great learning lesson here; you could also talk about how the different trees have different leaves. You could also pick up some seed pods, twigs and acorns to make your picture better.
When you get home, lay the leaves out to dry overnight or even just for a few hours. Grab some crafting card or paper, and encourage your kids to make leaves into woodland animals. A large leaf can become the body of an owl, while smaller leaves make perfect ears, wings or tails. Hedgehogs, foxes, squirrels and even butterflies can all be created using different leaf shapes. Finish each animal with some googly eyes, drawing legs with felt-tip pens or glueing on small twigs for extra detail. Every animal will be different to another person’s, and kids will love seeing their imagination come to life.

2. Pine Cone Bird Feeders
As I said earlier, every day is a learning lesson with autumn. You could teach the kids how to look after the wildlife in the autumn and even into winter. Pine cone feeders are easy to make, and they are a great way of looking after the birds in your garden. Collect a few large pine cones during your autumn walks; it could be a quick walk to the shop or a walk to school and back. Tie a length of string around the top before spreading peanut butter or sunflower seed butter over the pine cone using a knife or spoon. When they have been coated, roll the pine cone in birdseed until it’s completely covered.
When they are finished and dried out, you can hang the bird feeders in the garden, on your balcony or even in some local green spaces. Then your kids can watch as birds come to get something to eat. This is a fun craft activity to do with kids, and you could expand it to getting kids to draw the birds that visit their cone bird feeder. You can teach them the names of the different birds and try to photograph them on the cone bird feeder.

3. Autumn Handprint Tree Easy Autumn Crafts
Handprints are a keepsake picture that parents and grandparents love to do. This craft is one that you can make to give away to family members. Start by drawing or painting a tree trunk on a large piece of paper or card. Get some plates and pour some paint onto them. Paper plates work best because you can bin them afterwards. You need to use autumnal colours like yellow, orange, red and brown. But if your kids want to use different colours, then that adds their personal touch.
Get your kids to dip their hands into the paint and carefully press their hand around the branches to make colourful leaves. Older kids can be more creative and mix the colours to get more realistic leaves. When the artwork is finished, write the kids’ names on the back and display it proudly in your home. If you are giving it away, it will make a great gift for someone.

4. Acorn And Conker Creatures
When it comes to Autumn, you will always find some great natural treasures as you walk through the park or even in your garden. These little treasures of acorns, conkers and chesnuts are great for creating tiny woodland creatures. When you collect these little things, make sure they are smooth and clean. this makes it easier to decorate them. Using a glue gun, you can help them to glue some googly eyes, pipe cleaner legs and felt ears.
You and your kids can create an entire family of woodland creatures to play with or display. Encourage them to give each creature a name and personality. This will encourage your kids to use their imagination and creativity as they play, after all there will be hours of fun in these creatures.

5. Pumpkin Suncatchers
Pumpkins are everywhere in the autumn, especially in the run up to Halloween, but you do not need to spend money on a real pumpkin to join in some halloween fun. you can easily make your own ones out of some card and tissue paper. Cut a pumpkin shape from some black card or paper and then carefully remove the centre. Make sure you leave a big outline to make it strong enough to hold the tissue.
There are 2 different ways to do this. You can get some sticky back plastic and place it behind the pumkin, and then get your kids to place the tissue paper on to the sticky plasic. This is the less messy way to make the pumpkin. The other way is to use long strips of tissue paper and glue the outline so the tissue sits on the edge of the pumpkin. As the light shines through the window, there will be a lovely glass stained effect that brightens up the room and even the day! You can use these over and over again.
