Making Money On Your Blog This Year
So you started a blog and you want to make money on it? Before we start I do need to tell you that it is not going to happen overnight. It would help if you worked on your blog to build it up and you also need to decide what direction you want to take your blog. Making money on your blog is easy once you get going, but you must do it right from the start.
Make Your Blog Unique And Stop Using PLR
If you have bought your blog, to make money then this isn’t going to be the best side hustle for you. You need to put passion into your blog, and treat it like something special. If you bought your blog or started your blog just to add PLR (content that you can copy and paste on your website) then you have lost the battle before it starts.
Nobody wants to pay for content on a blog that is filled with copy-and-paste content. They want to put their content on a good quality website filled with unique content. I am not saying that PLR is a bad thing, it can be useful but you need to use it as a template and then rewrite it in your own words or voice. Add pictures too, if they are your own images, it is better but if not use images from Canva or Unsplash.
Sadly over Covid, so many people started blogs and did this. They just added PLR and then called themselves bloggers. This is insulting to other bloggers who put blood and sweat into their blogs. If they got any paid work, it would be pittance and it was undercutting the other quality bloggers. Now as these PLR bloggers are failing to make the money and their blogs are a mess, they are now trying to sell them – and failing.

Know Your Worth When It Comes To Making Money
When it comes to making money on your blog, you need to take a few things into consideration. Look at your stats and it is easy to work out how much to charge. You need to have good stats and this actually follows on from making unique content and not using PLR. You need to have people reading your blog and they will only read it if the content is unique.
Make a note of your monthly views and also your DA and speak to other bloggers. They will be happy to share how much they charge, although they will do it privately. Ask a few people to share their details and work it out against their stats and DA. Then look at your stats and DA, and you can charge accordingly.
Sometimes we have to take less money, it’s going to happen. If you need to take less to feed your family, nobody should judge you. Do it and look out for them. But try not to do it all of the time as people will always pay you less than you are worth.
Keep Your Blog Looking Good
Make sure your blog is readable. You might think a certain font looks good on your blog. But it could be difficult for some people to read. Think about changing it to a basic font that everyone can read. Making sure your background is white or pastel makes it easier to read too.
Update photos and maybe your blog logo to make it look professional. You can do this quite easily if you have a Canva account. It might take a few hours, but it looks better for you and it will bring in more work. You need to remember that your blog is your business, so make it stand out and be professional as you work.
Make sure there are no spelling or grammar mistakes in your blog posts. And again make sure that your blog is unique. Making money on your blog really starts here before anywhere else.

Step Away From None Paid Products If You Just Want To Make Money
Personally, I love getting stuff. When I started my blog I had it for nearly a year and someone offered me a tin opener. I thought I had hit the big time. As time went on we received holidays, toys and other things. I loved receiving these and I still do. Because these make a difference in my everyday life. As a single parent on a low-paid wage, it means I can give my child stuff that makes a difference in her childhood.
So I still do accept products and friends ask me to share my views with them. So it does help the brand as well as my family and friends. If you choose to stop doing product placement on your blog and just concentrate on paid content, that’s okay. If you choose to carry on with products on your blog that’s okay too.
Stepping away from non-paid products means you can concentrate more on paid content and you can pick and choose which content you want. Although a paid product might be of more value than a sponsored or guest post, it is still not cash. And you cannot pay your rent or food bill with a new top-of-the-range air fryer.
Making Money On Your Blog By Investing In Training
If you are a complete starter to the whole blogging world, then you can take classes. There is nothing wrong with the £10 courses that you see on places like BuyAGift or Groupon. But as you get more experienced you can look for more intense courses to take. These courses will help you to understand things where you might need help and also you can look at specialised courses like ones for SEO etc.
If you have a great website host, they will often offer courses for free or as part of a heavily discounted package. I am with Lyrical Host and every month you get free resources to help with your blog. But you also have the chance to buy packages for about £10 that are worth so much more. If you want to join Lyrical Host, just use the code Misstillyandme10 you will get a 10% discount. You can also use this discount code to get money off any courses, packages or bundles. That could save quite a few pennies!
