Are you a cook in the kitchen as bad as me? Are you a student who has moved out from home and now has to fend for themselves? Then you will be as lost as me! I am 51 years old and still cannot find my way around a kitchen. I am sure I am not the only person with this problem. But The Flexible Foodie by Lynn Davis is going to become your essential kitchen item that you will love forever.

Do you know what I love about The Flexible Foodie? She goes against the rules! She chooses to cook to her taste and doesn’t measure out her ingredients. Lynn Davis shows you how to have more freedom in your cooking by following recipes as you want to. She gives you the confidence to take risks in the kitchen and to experiment as you cook. The Flexible Foodie is all about being flexible whilst enjoying creating meals to enjoy.

Getting Started In The Flexible Foodie

The Flexible Foodie really does take you back to the beginning when it comes to cooking. So of course, Part One is going to be all about Getting Started. You need to learn to use your senses whilst you cook and the Flexible Foodie tells you how to do that. It also shows you what basic kitchen equipment you need and which storecupboard foods you need to keep at home to help with your cooking. It tells you how to roast meats, so they are thoroughly cooked, and how to create different potato side dishes.

The book is ideal for people who are starting with their own kitchen. Normally we ask our parents or friends how long to cook a joint of beef. but this book tells you how to do it all. There is no need to be embarrassed to ask anymore. This book is about to become your cooking partner.

The Recipes To Enjoy From Lynn Davis

The recipes in the book range from sauces to starters. And quick but easy lunchtime recipes to WW2 desserts. There is something for everyone in the Flexible Foodie. The recipes are easy to follow and use wording we associate with. A ‘slosh’ of brandy as we all know is a pour from the bottle. I mean who gets a shot glass out or a measuring jug to measure alcohol anyway?

I love that there are not many photos in the recipe section, because you can use your imagination as to how you think it should look. It means you take control of the finished product. And you don’t need to rubbish if your finished meal looks nothing like it is in the photo.
