The Best Cocktails In London According To Me
Ever since we went to Turkey this year, Tilly has been obsessed with trying different mocktails. So When we recently visited Top Hat Restaurant in London, she knew she wanted to try some mocktails. We were invited to Top Hat restaurant for the purpose of an honest review. We had so much fun and I had so much to say, that I have split the blog post into two. The food review is here and the food was gorgeous. The drinks, however, were on another level. They were the most fun and best cocktails in London that I have drunk. And I have drunk a few …….
The Cocktails Are Named After The Monopoly Game
Old Kent Road
This was just the kind of drink you would expect it to be. Rough around the edges but a good place to visit. The Old Kent Road is made with Vodka, Kahlua & Salted caramel. It is finished with squirty cream on the top. Then a cinnamon stick is added for taste and effect. This drink reminds me of an old gentleman’s club drink with a cigar. It was by far my favourite drink of the visit.
Coventry Street
This Helios Sunrise Daiquiri is inspired by the horses of Helios statue that can be found in Coventry Street, London. Helios was the famous Greek God who drove his chariot and moved the sun from the east to the west. Coventry Street is made with Pampero Blanco Rum, Apricot Jam, Rouges Du Roussillon, Caramalised Apricot and Lime Grenadine.
It is served in a glass with a Top Hat cocktail stick with two apricots, giving the drink a finishing touch. It always makes me wonder how they get the beautiful sunrise look with the combination of ingredients in the drink.
This is a sweet drink, so it is perfect for those with a sweet tooth and it went well with the food I was eating.
Marlborough Street
Soho Forest Jamtini
This drink is non-alcoholic, so it is perfect for the designated driver or the younger members of your group. It is inspired by the London district of Soho, where you will find Marlborough Street. The district was once a forest, where people would go hunting for some game. The area name of Soho is named after the hunter’s cry when they called their dogs back.
Marlborough Street is made with Aecorn Dry, Blackberry jam, Ginger, Cinnamon and Rose. It is totally alcohol-free. Meaning you can still feel part of the group drinking a cocktail, without getting tipsy.
What We Thought
There are so many cocktails on their menu, that we couldn’t try them all out. All named after a street in Monopoly. I think this makes them more fun to drink as well. The Cocktails are a great price for drinking in London. And I even think that the non-alcoholic mocktails were a really good price at £6
Tilly has started drinking Iced tea a lot. When she asked if they had Iced tea at Top Hat, they offered to make her a Long Island Iced Tea without alcohol and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Going out of the way like this to make a drink that wasn’t on the menu was great customer service, especially as she was a younger visitor to Top Hat.
If you are looking for food as well at The Top Hat restaurant then you can see a review that we have done here. We tried as many different foods as possible to get different perspectives and the food was awesome. You can also go for a game of Monopoly Lifesized and have such a laugh as you compete against other teams to be the winner.
