Have you ever watched The Traitors on BBC 1? It is a game show where traitors and faithful people compete against each other to try. The traitors try to outwit the faithful people and take the winning prize for themselves. With The Traitors card game, you can bring the programme into your own home.

What You Get In The Traitors Card Game

How You Play

Each player is dealt a number card. You use the cards in numerical order. For 1-4 players, you use card numbers 1 to 4. The number card is placed upward on the table. You take the traitor, event and final banishment and put them aside. Then shuffle the rest of the cards. Each player is given 3 cards and then the traitor and event cards are put into the rest of the deck. The cards are placed face down on the table and the final banishment card is placed on the bottom of the pile.

Everyone is given a role card. However, the role cards must include a traitor card. These cards need to be shuffled and then every player is given one card and it is laid down so nobody can see. Each player checks their card to see if they are a faithful or traitor. Then they need to keep their identity a secret from the other players.

Using The Game Deck Cards

You take turns to play the game. The first player takes a card from the top of the deck. You add this card to the cards in your hand. But if it is an event card, it needs to be played straight away. However, you should only have 3 cards in your hands so you need to get rid of one (if you haven’t played it). Gold cards go on to the pile of prize money. So this is the shared prize money pot.

You need to watch all of the other players carefully, see how they act and try to work out the traitor.

How To Use The App With The Game

Additionally, there is an app that works with the game. There is a QR code on with the game, this helps you to play the game and makes it more interactive. The app is used when an event card is drawn from the pack. If you keep the QR code in the middle of the table, everyone can access it when they need it.

How To Win The Traitors Card Game

The winner is the person who has the most gold coin cards at the end of the game. The gold cards in the player’s hands are their prize. If there are only faithful players left in the game, they split the pot. If the traitor or traitors are in the game, they win all of the gold coin cards in the prize fund.
